Uganda. A Country Offered by England to the Zionists for the Establishment of a Jewish State

Summary

The book comprises an author’s introduction, a chapter devoted to general geographic information about Uganda (its borders, climate, flora and fauna, and population), a chapter devoted to the Kingdom of Uganda (with general information about its society, religion, commerce, and state administration). Subsequent, briefer, chapters are devoted to the kingdoms of Karague, Unioro, Kavirondo, while another chapter entitled Palestine or Uganda? anticipates the author’s conclusion, namely that Uganda’s climate, fertility and nature make it comparable to a true paradise. He finds that the area of Karague may become the perfect site for Jewish initial settlements (it is not very populated and has a colder climate than other areas). The author notices that the Sixth Zionist Congress has decided to equip a special mission to explore Uganda and claims that the results of this expedition are yet to be seen, but in the author’s view there is no better place for Jews to find shelter than this corner of the world. The book is accompanied by a map of Uganda.

R. Kresin is also the author of The Jewish Question from the Point of View of the Russians’ Interests (1906).
