In Africa, on the Congo River. E. Glave’s Six Years Stay in Stanley’s Unit

Summary

The book is an adapted Russian translation of In Savage Africa: Or, Six Years of Adventure in Congo-Land by Edward James Glave (1892), describing the author’s six-year stay in the Congo region as a member of Henry Stanley’s expedition. The original edition is divided into twelve chapters, covering different aspects of life in Congo, such as geography, nature, and the native local people. The present Russian version reduces the number of chapters from twelve to five, and comes with twenty-seven illustrations, which are a selection of the illustrations contained in the original edition.
