Summary

The book is divided into four parts and is accompanied by seven illustrations of the pyramids and Egyptian frescoes. Part one introduces the country from the viewpoint of geography, climate, and landscape. Part two delves into the issue of religion, describing the gods that the ancient Egyptians venerated. In particular, it explores the concept of the afterlife and discusses mummification. Part three describes the ways in which the state was administered, highlighting the most important figures in Egyptian society such as the pharaoh and the priests. It also addresses topics like slavery and architecture. Part four is devoted to the history of the fall of ancient Egypt but concludes by emphasising that this country has contributed enduring art and architecture to the world, which are still appreciated today.
